The next step after attempting to resolve the matter with our team is mediation with the assistance of a legal professional. Mediation is a procedure whereby parties discuss their disputes with the assistance of a trained impartial third person, who assists them in reaching a  resolution or settlement. It can be an informal meeting or a scheduled settlement conference. We can recommend law firms in the Maldives for you or you can visit this post about finding law firms in the Maldives.

Arbitration is a private but formal and legally-binding process where the disputing parties can agree that one or several individuals can make a decision about a dispute after receiving evidence and hearing arguments. Although the Maldives is not a party to the New York Convention on the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards, foreign arbitral awards can be enforced in the Maldives under Section 72 of the Maldives Arbitration Act. Our preferred location for all arbitration is the United States of America.

According to the Maldives Arbitration Act, an arbitral award made in a foreign country shall be recognized and enforced in the Maldives, as long as the award was not made in contradiction with the procedures of this Act. The enforcement of an arbitral award is mandatory in the Maldives. Therefore you can rest assured that any such legal proceedings overseas have teeth in the Maldives.
